“Emperor” Concerto with Toronto Symphony Orchestra

On May 25, 27 and 28, Garrick Ohlsson will make his highly celebrated return to Toronto to play Beethoven’s magnificent Concerto No. 5 “Emperor” with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Roy Thomson Hall

The first half of the program will feature two exciting world premieres by Canadian composers, with the first being Mithrā: Celebration Prelude by Afarin Mansouri and the other being Samy Moussa’s Symphony No. 2. In addition, the orchestra will play the beautifully mystical The Enchanted Lake by Anatoly Liadov.

Following a brief pause, the second half will comprise of Mr. Ohlsson and the TSO’s rendition of the well known “Emperor” Concerto, written by Ludwig van Beethoven in 1809. This heroic, three-movement work has become a signature of Mr. Ohlsson’s repertoire, having recently performed the masterpiece with the San Francisco Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
