Shippensburg Festival Symphony’s 50th Anniversary and tour with the National Youth Orchestra China
Garrick Ohlsson performs Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor”, with the Shippensburg Festival Symphony in Pennsylvania on July 21, on the occasion of the orchestra’s 50th Anniversary. Also on the program that evening is Mahler’s Symphony No. 7.
He then departs on a tour with the National Youth Orchestra of China under the leadership of conductor Ludovic Morlot, starting in Shanghai on August 1. After this initial performance, Mr. Ohlsson and the orchestra travel to Germany where they will partake in Young Euro Classic, Europe’s preeminent festival for young musicians, playing at the Konzerthaus Berlin on August 5.
Their next concert takes place on August 7 at Snape Maltings Conert Hall for the Snape Proms. Their last performance together is at the Fondazione Teatro Comunale in Bolzano on August 9.
The program for this tour features Ye Xiaogang’s Sunlight and Twilight from The Tianjin Suite, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5.
