An exciting start to 2019
On January 19 and 20, Garrick Ohlsson performs Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Boulder Philharmonic, first at the Macky Auditorium Concert Hall and then at the Performing Arts Complex at Pinnacle Charter School. The all-Russian program also includes Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia and Prokofiev’s monumental Symphony No. 5.
He then travels to Cleveland to play Busoni’s Piano Concerto at Severance Hall on February 7 and 9 with Alan Gilbert on the podium. Also featured this evening is Haydn’s Symphony No. 100 (“Military”).
After this, he plays a recital at San Francisco’s Herbst Theatre on February 21, where he tackles two programs of Brahms, beginning a multi-year series during which he will perform the composer’s complete works for solo piano.
