Beethoven with the San Francisco Symphony

On June 9, 10 & 11 Garrick Ohlsson returns to Davies Symphony Hall in concert with the San Francisco Symphony. Conductor Susanna Mälkki leads the programme, which includes Stravinsky’s Scherzo fantastique,
Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 featuring Mr. Ohlsson as soloist, and Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring).

Head into spring with a musical burst of color and excitement with Stravinsky’s revolutionary Le Sacre du printemps. Conductor Susanna Mälkki returns following rave reviews last season for bringing out “serenity and wit, lyricism and rawness, whispering delicacy and harrowing abandon” (San Francisco Classical Voice) in the orchestra, along with pianist Garrick Ohlsson, longtime SF Symphony favorite, whose artistry combines “strength, sensitivity and stylistic insight” (San Francisco Chronicle) in Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto.
