Summer concerts

On July 16, Garrick Ohlsson plays with the Cleveland Orchestra once again, this time led by Semyon Bychkov. He will play Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1, which will be preceded by Smetana’s The Moldau from Má vlast, and followed by Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8.

He will then perform at Grant Park Music Festival on August 5. The evening will start with Juan Pablo Contreras’ Mariachitlán, with Garrick performing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 afterwards. Lastly, Giancarlo Guerrero will conduct Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien.

His last summer performances take him to Skaneateles Festival, where on August 7 he will play a recital of works by Shostakovich, Brahms and Chopin, followed on August 8 by a concert under the stars with the Skaneateles Orchestra which will feature Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst, Beethoven Symphony No. 4, and Garrick as the soloist of his Piano Concerto No. 4, conducted by Marcelo Lehninger.
