February Concerts in Detroit and Des Moines
Next month, Garrick Ohlsson will be treating audiences in Detroit and Des Moines to his exceptional piano playing in concerts featuring a range of classical delights.
On February 3 and 4, he will be playing Brahms’ First Piano Concerto alongside the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director Laureate, Leonard Slatkin. Along with the concerto, the program will also feature two 20th-century classics: Stravinsky’s Symphonies of Wind Instruments and Bartók’s Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, Sz. 106.
Later, on February 25, Mr. Ohlsson will be giving a solo recital at Drake University in Des Moines, as part of the Lauridsen Great Pianist Series. The recital will showcase some of his favorite repertoire by Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, and Scriabin.
