Concerts with Minnesota Orchestra

On April 28 and 29, Mr. Ohlsson returns to join the Minnesota Orchestra and conductor Juanjo Mena for Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto in a program that will also feature a solemn memorial and Bruckner’s sonorous Sixth Symphony. Mr. Ohlsson first appeared with the orchestra in 1971.

The concert will begin with Philip Herbert’s Elegy, a poignant tribute to the late Stephen Lawrence, who was killed in an act of racial violence at the age of 18. Following this, Ohlsson will take the stage to perform Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto. Known for his highly virtuosic playing, Mr. Ohlsson’s interpretation of the great work promises to be filled with musical humor and unexpected twists and turns, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats. The concert will conclude with Bruckner’s Sixth Symphony, a monumental work showcasing the full range of the orchestra’s capabilities.
